Is this course approved by the government?

The Food Safety Leaders is a complete food safety course designed to meet the regulatory requirements for food safety training in Canada. We are currently approved in Alberta, NewFoundland and are in the process of getting approval across the country. The best thing to do is contact us and find out if it is approved before registering for the course.

How long will it take me to do this course?

The course is interactive with lots of resources to help you understand these important concepts. The time it will take to finish the course will depend on how much previous knowledge you have in food safety. On average anywhere between 8-10 hours should be enough to complete the course and get ready for the exam.

Do I have to go through all the lectures, quizzes and guidebook sections?

Yes, we highly recommend you listen to all the lectures and complete the quizzes for each section. The guidebook has added information that may not all be covered in the lecture videos so it is especially important that you review the guidebook in detail. Spending the time to go through the guidebook, the lectures and practice quizzes will increase the chances you will pass the exam the first time.

How do I write the exam to get certified?

All exams have to be proctored. This means that we are required to make sure you are the one that completes the exam. There are a few ways you can do and we will help you as needed. When you register for the course you will be contacted about writing the exam and we will discuss options that work best with your needs and schedule. For businesses that have a membership to our on-going training, we will work with you to find a permanent proctor for your staff. Contact us to set this up. .

Do you guarantee that students will pass the exam?

Hi, this is Michael here - your instructor. I feel very confident in the level of training we provide in this course and I'm always happy to help my students as much as I possibly can. Everyone is different and there are a number of factors that contribute to passing the exam such as English as a second language, effort and past experience with this material. For any of my students that do not pass the first time, I will set up a call with them to review highlights of the course and answer any questions they may have. You can take the test an unlimited amount of times, however students are required to wait 15 days between writing the test. In these 15 days I will answer any questions or concerns you have to help set you up for success!

Does a Food Handler Certificate Expire?

The Food Safety Leaders certificate does not expire. However, we strongly recommend that you take the course again at least every 3-5 years. This is because food safety Regulations change over time, new food safety information comes out. If you don’t renew your certificate every 3-5 years then your food safety knowledge will be out of date. Also, most employers require their staff to have a food safety training certificate upgraded every 3-5 years.

What is your refund policy?

Once you are registered for the online course there are typically no refunds. For the classroom course, you may withdraw and get a refund (minus 10% processing fee) up to 48 hours before the exam. When we are within 48 hours of the in-classroom course, no refunds will be issued.
